Year In Review: P1 Fall-Spring

As I’m rounding out my first year of pharmacy school, I figured that I would make a blog post about how my P1 year was.

Overall, it was a really good year. I learned a lot about myself and my study habits and learned a lot in class. I was able to achieve getting all A’s and 1 B throughout the course of the whole year. I was able to give myself time to relax as well.

I started research with one of my professors. I met with a resident of a retirement community through the Longitudinal Care Experience and truly got to know her as a person. I also learned how to better communicate with patients.

It was a difficult year, but I know that the next few years are going to be even harder, so I’m hoping to adjust to them well.

Here’s to starting off my summer community rotation with a bang and having a great time.

You Can Call Me a 20-Something Grandma, But…

You can call me a 20-something grandma, but…

I’m just responsible.

I feel as if my life is more than going out and drinking every night of the weekend. Budgeting money is important. I do not want to go out and spend more money than is necessary. I’d rather have a girl’s night at my place; drinking wine and relaxing.

I just care about my health.

I hate feeling hungover, but it’s more than just that… I care about my mental health. I’d prefer to spend my free time working on me and my relationships with my friends and family since the rest of my time is spent on school.

I just don’t care.

I don’t care what you think about me. I’m living the life that I want with the people that I love and I would never give that up for anything. If you have a problem with me and the way I live my life, well quite frankly, I don’t care.

I’m me, I like the way I am, and that’s all that matters.

Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about yourself and as always…

Stay Golden,

Emily

A Pet Profile: Nemo Gamma

Here’s a little profile on my sweet little kitty, Nemo. I brought Nemo into my home in October of 2016. She’s the sweetest little thing. At first, my parents were not very happy (I got her without their permission), but they’ve grown to love and cherish their grand-kitty as much as I do. She’s a Calico and will be 2 years old in June. Bringing her into my life was one of the best things I could have done. I love her so much.

10 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me

Here’s 10 things that most of you wouldn’t know about me. If you did know any of these things… comment below how many. Enjoy!

  1. I used to write for ‘The Odyssey’.
  2. I’ve always wanted to be fluent in another language.
  3. I would love to learn to snow ski AND water ski.
  4. I hate being randomly hugged by friends. Saying hello or goodbye is fine, but just a random hug… no thanks. ESPECIALLY when I’m sad bc it makes me cry worse.
  5. I can’t remember wanting to be anything other than a Pharmacist, though my mom has said that I wanted to be a doctor, a ballerina… you know, normal kid stuff.
  6. I’ve never broken a bone, but I’m EXTREMELY clumsy.
  7. I can’t whistle to save my life… I mean it. It’s so bad.
  8. I hate speaking in public, but I’ve always imagined being a speaker at a conference of some sort.
  9. I’ve had 3 different YouTube Channels. Two of them were for singing and dancing (LOL) and now I have a Vlog channel.
  10.  I’m a picky eater.

My Astrology Profile: Fact or Fiction?

Hey party people! Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not a big proponent of Astrology Signs and Horoscopes, but I figured that I would delve into a little bit of research on my sign, the ever enticing Scorpio, and see what it had to say. Hope you enjoy!

General:

“In control of their destiny” – Astrology.com

“Determined to Succeed” – Astrology.com

“Highly attuned to the vibrations of others” – Astrology.com

“Scorpios love competition in both work and play” –Astrology.com

“Oh, and we invented sexy” – compatible-astrology.com

Traits:

Tempermental

Curious

Intuitive

Persistent

Stubborn

Determined

Intense

Passionate

Clever

Perceptive

Loyal

Caring

Devoted

Love:

Compatible Signs: Pisces, Capricorn, Virgo, Cancer

“Scorpio is the most sensual sign of the zodiac.” –  astrology-zodiac-signs.com

“Once Scorpios fall in love, they are very dedicated and faithful.” – astrology-zodiac-signs.com

Conclusion (My Thoughts):

Okay, so from what I’ve gathered from my little bit of research, I am very much like what a Scorpio is supposedly supposed to be like. I’m determined and passionate. I love deeply and I work hard at everything I do. I get emotional, but tend to hold it in until I can’t anymore. I’m loyal and kind. I am one of the people that my friends go to most for advice. Most of the time, when I have a ‘gut-feeling’ about something, it is right. I get suspicious. I hate lying and cheating.

There were a few things that I read that I didn’t feel sounded like me, but overall, I feel that my horoscope is pretty accurate, however, I know that it is not completely factual… So… I would say be careful with trusting horoscopes fully.

How do you feel about yours?

Stay Golden,

Emily

Fast Food Chains To Die For

I don’t know about y’all, but this girl loves some fast food. Yeah, it’s not healthy, but it sure is delicious. Here are my favorite fast food chains (at least in NC).

Chick-fil-a

chickfila.gif

Chick-fil-a is by far my favorite fast food restaurant. Their chicken is perfectly breaded and crispy. Their Polynesian (sweet and sour) sauce is also really good. They’re always fast and always so polite.

Biscuitville

biscuitville.png

Just thinking about Biscuitville makes my mouth water. Living in the South, biscuits are a staple food group, and Biscuitville has the best biscuits around. There is something wrong with me if I’m NOT asking people to go with me to Biscuitville for breakfast.

Cook Out

cook out.jpg

I mean, who doesn’t love a whole tray of food for $5? And I mean… come on, their milkshakes are literally SOOO GOOD. If you haven’t tried Cook Out, you haven’t lived.

Panda Express

panda.jpeg

Let’s be honest, ask any of my friends or family and they’ll tell you I go here almost every week. They give you a lot of food for your money, and it’s just so delicious. I always get orange chicken (which can be spicy at times so be careful). Don’t pass this place up.

Wendy’s

wendys.gif

Now this one is available almost all throughout the USA, but it is still a staple in my diet (and yes I know how bad that sounds). Their 4 for $4 meals are such a good deal, and their food is delicious. Can’t go wrong with some chicken nuggets from Wendy’s as a quick meal on-the-go.

Freddy’s

Freddys.png

Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers is a place I like to go when I feel like going a bit outside of my typical restaurants. I don’t go here as often, but their food is just as good as any other place I like to go. Their fries are my favorite things because they’re so thin (so you feel like you are eating less) and they give you a ton of them.

Sonic Drive-In

Sonic

Recently, they closed down the Sonic in my hometown to build some other stuff, and that broke my heart. What is my life if I’m not going to Sonic to get a $1 slushy? Well, I guess we will find out.

Eat to your heart’s content… and as always,

Stay Golden,

Emily
